Livestock Compensation

Livestock are often killed outside the forest, especially by Leopards. The Karnataka Forest Department has a compensation package for farmers who lose their livestock as a result. However, this compensation can take over 6 months to reach the farmer and at times, the farmer poisons the carcass which can kill the wild cat when it returns to feed on its kill. To avoid this and to provide interim financial assistance, VNP compensates the farmer as it did for Mr.Prakash who lost his cow to a Leopard in Karapura village.
